2ème conférence sur les concepts physiques et modèles computationnels en immunologie

La 2ème conférence annuelle axée sur les concepts physiques et modèles computationnels en immunologie aura lieu du 26 au 28 septembre 2018 à l’ENS

2nd annual meeting/discussion forum on
Physical concepts and computational models in immunology
Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, September 26-28, 2018

This is an exciting time for immunology. Immunologists are attempting to answer increasingly complex questions concerning phenomena that range from the genetic, molecular, and cellular scales to that of organs, whole animal or humans, and populations of humans and pathogens. The non-linear, cooperative, and stochastic character of the interactions between components of the immune system as well as the overwhelming amounts of data that can now be collected raise new challenges to intuit patterns in the data and to mechanistically understand the complex phenomena of immune response. Concepts rooted in physics and computational models are increasingly playing a key role in addressing these challenges. The meeting aims to bring together scientists from different fields open to quantitative approaches in immunology.

The meeting will include broad themes of immunology at different scales of biological organisation:
1. Cellular Scale: molecular and cellular biology of immune response
2. Organismic scale: generation and maturation of immune repertoires, immune-pathogen evolution within hosts
3. Population scale: global dynamics of pathogen-immune co-evolution, links to epidemiology

The meeting will start on the afternoon of Wednesday the 26th with a tutorial session directed at young researchers and those who wish to enter the field. There will be three thematic sessions on Thursday and on Friday morning. We will finish with a general discussion on Friday around lunchtime.

The meeting is organized by Arup Chakraborty, Michael Lässig, Aleksandra Walczak, and will be funded by CNRS GDRI Evolution Regulation and Signalling, by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft within the Collaborative Research Center "Predictability in Evolution", Shuyan Qi, and by Institute for Medical Engineering & Science of MIT. There is no registration fee. Please register here by September 1st 2018 to help us guarantee enough coffee and lunch snacks.
